    Couple Sat Next to a Dead Body in Qatar Airways Flight

    The handling of an in-flight passenger death by Qatar Airways has drawn significant attention and sparked debate. While, the airline stated that its crew acted “appropriately” in a difficult situation.

    What happened?

    An Australian couple, Mitchell Ring and Jennifer Colin, were on a Qatar Airways flight from Melbourne to Doha when a fellow passenger collapsed and died mid-flight. Then the Cabin crew tried to revive the passenger but was unsuccessful.

    Due to the passenger’s size and the narrow aisle, the crew was unable to move the body to another section of the aircraft. So they placed the deceased passenger’s body next to Mr. Ring for the remaining four hours of flight, covering it with a blanket.

    Qatar Airways’ Response

    Qatar Airways expressed its condolences to the deceased passenger’s family. The airline stated that its crew members are “highly trained to deal with these situations with as much respect and dignity as possible.”

    Following an internal review, Qatar Airways maintained that its cabin crew “acted quickly, appropriately and professionally at all times in line with training and industry standard practice.”

    They also stated that a crew member was with the deceased passenger for the duration of the flight until landing. The airline has also stated that they are in the process of contacting passengers in line with their policies and procedures.

    The incident has generated widespread discussion and criticism, with many people expressing sympathy for the affected couple. Concerns have been raised about the airline’s handling of the situation and the emotional impact on fellow passengers. There have been calls for airlines to have clearer protocols for managing in-flight deaths.
