    Several Flights Delayed at Delhi Airport Amid Dense Fog Conditions

    As the national capital, Delhi has been observing dense fog conditions over several days, the Indira Gandhi International Airport faced several disruptions on Thursday, January 23, 2025, causing delays in flights.

    According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there has been slight dip in temperature over the next two days, predicting a maximum of 22 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12 degrees Celsius.

    These weather conditions are expected to remain same on Friday, with mostly smog in the morning, mostly clear skies during the days and shallow fog returning in the evening and night.

    Second Warmest Day

    In addition to this, Wednesday marked as an unusual rise in Delhi’s maximum temperature, making it the second warmest day in the month so far. However, with foggy conditions, disruptions related to travel may occur in the short time.

    Disruptions in Indian Railways

    Apart from flight disruptions, there were slightly late arrival of at least nine trains from various stations in Delhi were expected due to dense fog conditions.

    Earlier this week, the fog conditions also had disrupted train services in Delhi with 19 trains running late, as per the Indian Railways. The trains running late include Nauchandi Express (14241), Vaishali Express (12553), Kir Asr Express (15707), S Kranti Sup Express (12393), Anvt Garib Rath (22409) and Kashi Vishwanath Express (15127).

    Amid these conditions, the railways have issued advisory to the passengers to check the latest train schedules before embarking on their journey. There have also been disruptions in the morning visuals from many parts of the national capital, showing fog engulfing those areas.

    76th Republic Day Parade Rehearsals Continued

    However, the parade rehearsals for the 76th Republic Day at Kartavya Path in the morning continue despite foggy conditions. These rehearsals were held by Defence Personnel.

    DUSIB Set Up Shelters for Homeless

    Further, a thin layer of fog was seen blanketing the Akshardham-Temple area as the cold wave continued in the National Capital. Around 235 pagoda tents were set up to provide shelters to the homeless people. The night shelters have been also set up in several areas. These were being set up by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).
