UP Government to Build India’s First Night Safari in Lucknow

    Read Later

Lucknow is set to become home to India’s first night safari, with construction for the ambitious Kukrail Night Safari and Adventure Park scheduled to commence next month. The Uttar Pradesh government has planned this landmark project to enhance tourism, ecotourism, and wildlife conservation while promoting sustainable leisure activities.

The development will unfold in two phases, with a total estimated investment of ₹1,500 crore. This initiative is inspired by the world-famous Singapore Night Safari and aims to offer visitors a safe, immersive experience of nocturnal wildlife in a controlled yet natural habitat.

    Project Development in Two Phases

According to an official statement, the Kukrail Night Safari and Adventure Park will be developed in two phases:

Phase 1 will begin in April 2025, with an estimated cost of ₹634 crore. The construction is expected to take 24 months to complete. This phase will include the night safari, an adventure park, eco-friendly rides, bird-watching areas, and interactive educational centers. Phase 2 will focus on expanding the facilities, adding more attractions, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

The project is expected to provide a major boost to eco-tourism in Uttar Pradesh while also promoting wildlife conservation and increasing green cover.

India’s First Ever Night Safari Experience

The Kukrail Night Safari will mark India’s first attempt at showcasing nocturnal wildlife in an environment that mimics their natural habitat. Inspired by the renowned Singapore Night Safari, it will provide visitors with an opportunity to observe wild animals in the dark while ensuring their safety and well-being.

Unlike traditional safaris that operate during the day, this initiative will create a controlled yet open environment, where animals can roam freely while visitors observe them under artificial moonlight and other eco-friendly lighting solutions.

    Location and Key Features

The Kukrail Night Safari will be developed over a vast stretch of land near the Kukrail forest reserve in Lucknow, a region known for its rich biodiversity. The park will have several unique attractions, including:

Artificial Moonlight: To ensure visibility while maintaining the natural setting.

Eco-Friendly Safari Rides: Electric and battery-operated vehicles to reduce carbon emissions.

Bird Watching Areas: A dedicated space for bird enthusiasts to observe nocturnal and migratory birds.

Interactive Educational Centers: To spread awareness about wildlife conservation and nocturnal species.

Luxury Resorts and Stay Areas: Sustainable, nature-friendly accommodations for tourists.

With these features, the UP government hopes to make the Kukrail Night Safari a must-visit destination for both domestic and international tourists.

    Boosting Tourism and Wildlife Conservation

The Uttar Pradesh government is positioning this project as a flagship initiative to boost eco-tourism and promote sustainable development. The night safari will not only generate employment but also increase awareness about wildlife conservation.

Officials believe that this project will put Lucknow on the global tourism map, attracting wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and researchers from across the world. By integrating adventure, education, and conservation, the Kukrail Night Safari aims to redefine wildlife tourism in India.

As the construction begins next month, excitement is high about this groundbreaking initiative that will make Uttar Pradesh home to India’s first-ever night safari experience.
