CSK, Aka Chennai Super Kings is one of the successful franchises of IPL. But the team is still trying to find their second win after losing 4 matches in a row. Now the team is facing a crisis as the captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, is ruled out from the tournament due to a hairline fracture in the elbow.

CSK head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed the development. "Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of IPL with fracture on elbow. MS Dhoni to take over as captain," Fleming told media persons. Gaikwad sustained the blow when a short ball hit him from Jofra Archer.

CSK won their last title in 2023, led by MSD, then he passed the baton to Ruturaj. since then, Ruturaj has shown consistency in his batting. So, as he is ruled out of the tournament, the management has to find a substitute.

The former India batter Robin Utthapaa gave a solution, saying Rahul Tripathi could be asked to bat at No.3 in the right-hander's position. However, Robin Uthappa believes it is unfair to expect Dhoni to magically fix all the problems, considering the many gaps within the squad.

“I don’t think him being captain is going to automatically turn the tide for CSK. There are a lot of gaps in that side, right? Well, how do you fix that? How do you cover for a solid batter like Rutu, who seems like the only one finding some form?” Uthappa said on JioHotstar after the fixture between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

CSK are currently languishing in the ninth spot in the points table with just two points. The franchise lost four back-to-back matches. The match with KKR in MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, CSK desperately need a win to keep their campaign on track.
