When Ranbir Clarified his Controversial Comment on Aishwarya

Initially, Ranbir admitted that he was nervous about performing intimate scenes with Aishwarya, given her stature in the industry. However, it was Aishwarya who reassured him, emphasizing that they were merely acting, and that professionalism should always take precedence. This helped him overcome his hesitation, leading to some of the most passionate scenes in the film.
While their on-screen chemistry was appreciated, one of Ranbirs comments during an interview sparked a major controversy. Speaking about his experience working with Aishwarya, Ranbir jokingly said, Tabhi maine socha, kabhi aisa mauka milega nahi, so maine bhi mauke pe chauka maar diya! (I thought, such an opportunity would never come again, so I made the most of it!).
While this statement may have been said lightheartedly, it did not go down well with the Bachchan family. According to sources close to the family, they were not bothered by the intimate scenes between Aishwarya and Ranbir but found his comment during the interview disrespectful and embarrassing. Given Aishwaryas esteemed position in the industry and her association with the Bachchan family, the remark was perceived as inappropriate and in poor taste.
Around the same time, an old video of Aishwarya Rai walking down the ramp in a short black dress before her Bollywood debut resurfaced online. The video went viral, sparking discussions among fans about her transformation over the years. While the resurfacing of such old content might not have been directly related to the controversy with Ranbir, it reignited conversations about Aishwaryas journey in the entertainment industry and her early days in modeling.
Realizing his comment’s backlash, Ranbir promptly responded to clarify his stance. He emphasized that his words had been misinterpreted and that he held Aishwarya in the highest regard. Addressing the controversy, Ranbir stated, Aishwarya is one of Indias most talented and respected women. I will always be grateful for her contribution to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. I could never disrespect her like that.
He reiterated that he saw Aishwarya as a family friend and had the utmost respect for her professionalism. Interestingly, Ranbir and Aishwaryas association dates back to Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999), which was directed by his father, Rishi Kapoor. While Aishwarya played the leading lady in the film, Ranbir worked as an assistant director. This connection made their collaboration in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil even more special.
Although Ranbir’s comment was likely meant in jest, it unintentionally stirred controversy and upset the Bachchan family. The incident highlights how remarks made in a casual or humorous tone can sometimes be taken out of context and create unintended repercussions. Despite the controversy, both Ranbir and Aishwarya moved past the issue, continuing to maintain a professional and respectful relationship in the industry.
