Here comes a shocking incident from Bengaluru, where the body of a 29-year-old woman was found chopped into pieces in a refrigerator on Saturday, September 21, 2024. As per the reports, the deceased was identified as Mahalakshmi.

Her body had been cut into 50 pieces. Her estranged husband discovered her remains after the house owner called him, saying there was a foul smell coming out of the house.

When the deceased husband, identified as Hemant Das arrived, he found her body chopped into pieces and stored in a refrigerator. He immediately filed a complaint to the police.

Notably, Das has been separated from his wife Mahalakshmi for nine months. Her wife used to visit his shop monthly to meet their daughter. The last time, she visited was 25 days ago before her tragic demise.

    Suspects in the Case

The deceased family pointed to a man named Ashraf as a suspect and three other colleagues, Mukta, Shashidhar, and Sunil— who allegedly had disputes with her in the past.

Ashraf is believed to be a close friend of Mahalakshmi. Das said that Ashraf was blackmailing Mahalakshmi, which escalated into arguments between the couple. Mahalakshmi has also complained about the act. I believe he is behind this heinous act,” Das stated.

However, the Police have been investigating the case. They have been trying to gather all the necessary data including Mahalakshami’s call records, retrieving data from her phone, etc.

In a recent probe, it has been revealed that Mahalakshami and Hemant Das had a serious conflict in December 2023. Mahalakshmi filed a complaint against her, accusing him of neglect. In February 2024, Hemant Das also lodged a complaint accusing her of harassment and public humiliation for money.

Meanwhile, as the investigation continued in the case, police were inspecting every aspect of the case. They are examining the suspect and the relationship of Mahalakshmi with her colleagues.

    NCW directs Karnataka Police

The National Commission for Women has extended its concern over the case and directed Karnataka police to arrest all accused involved in the case and ensure a time-bound investigation.

Earlier, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara addressed the incident. He said, “The Police have gathered a lot of information and clues. One individual has evolved as a suspect, but we need to collect more information before making any definitive statements.”
