    Celebrating Unity: PM Modi Pays Tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity

    On the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his heartfelt tribute to the revered leader. Every year on 31st October, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated on Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary.

    During his two-day visit to Gujarat, PM Modi attended the Unity Day Parade at the Parade Ground in Kevadia, Gujarat.

    Honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

    On the morning of 31st October, PM Modi reached the Statue of Unity. There he offered flower petals and honored the statue of the Iron Man of India. He also took the lead in administering the Unity Oath.

    During the event, the National Security Guard (NSG) parade was organized to honor the legacy and contributions made by Sardar Patel. The parade consisted of 16 marching contingents, which included participants from nine states, one Union Territory police, four Central Armed Police Forced, NCC, and a band.

    PM Modi also posted on his social media handle X about the contributions made by Sardar Patel. He emphasized the message that Patel used to give, which is the priority to unity.

    Every year on 31st October, India celebrates National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. The day marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a freedom fighter and first Home Minister of India.

On this day, various events are organized, featuring parades, rallies, and the administration of a unity oath.     The Statue of Unity is a monumental tribute, built in the memory of Sardar Patel. The statue was inaugurated on October 31, 2018, on Patel’s birth anniversary near Kevadia, Gujarat. Designed by sculptor Ram V Sutar, the statute is 182 meters (597 feet) long. Its gigantic height makes it the tallest statue in the world. The statue depicts Patel in a walking posture, that reflects Patel’s dynamic leadership in uniting India.
