Conflict Erupted Between Israel and Lebanon
Over a month, Israel has intensified its military operations against Lebanon, targeting its military group, Hezbollah. Recently, the Israeli Military confirmed its airstrikes target on Beirut’s Southern Suburbs, also known as Hezbollah’s stronghold. The attacks resulted in substantial casualties including over 2500 deaths and nearly 11,000 people were left injured.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah has recently responded to this attack by announcing an escalation against Israel. They claimed that it had launched a missile salvo towards Israel on Thursday morning.
The Israeli Defense Forces also said sirens were heard in Northern Israel and two projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli Territory.” One of them was intercepted and the other fell into an open area.
The Hezbollah claimed that it attacked two Israeli military personnel near the border village of Labbouneh. The following day, the Israeli Defense Forces on Thursday, October 17, 2024, responded to the attack and eliminated more than 45 terrorists and destroyed 150 targets in Lebanon.
Among “these targets are weapons warehouses, launchers, and military buildings of the organization,” the IDF stated in a post on X.
However, the situation remains highly volatile with ongoing hostilities and significant humanitarian concerns.
