Following the recent clashes that took place in Canada and Bangladesh, the Indian Americans at the Silicon Valley of California conducted a solidarity rally for the Hindu Communities against the violence with them.

While speaking at the gathering at the Milpitas City Hall, the community leaders stressed that the attacks took place on Hindus. They urged the US officials and leaders to condemn the attacks as human rights violations. They also held the Canadian and Bangladeshi governments responsible to protect and uphold the Hindu population in the country.

Indian Americans Expresses Disappointment towards Government

The Indian Americans at the rally were observed expressing their disappointment towards the government over the poor handling of attacks on Hindu devotees at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton. The Khalistanis carried out the attacks against Hindu devotees at the temple in Canada. They also engaged in violent activities targeting the devotees and causing them injuries. The attack led to the significant tension and fear among the Hindu community in the area.

Several people at the rally raised slogans stating, “Stop Khalistani terrorism, protect Canadian Hindus,” and “Stop Islamist terrorism, protect Bangladeshi Hindus.”.

“We saw videos of the Khalistani terrorists invading the temple premises and beating up men, women, and children. It was horrible to see Hindus who had gone to the temple to celebrate the Diwali festival being hounded by those goons,” a press release noted.

“To make matters worse, we saw that the police were already infiltrated with Khalistan supporters and were beating up the Hindu devotees. Freedom of violence is dressed up as freedom of expression in Canada. We have lost all faith in the Trudeau government in protecting the basic human rights of Canadian Hindus,” it further added.

Dr. Ramesh Japra, from Americans for Hindus—an organization in the United States dedicated to supporting and advocating for the Hindu community—called out the attacks by Khalistani in Canada and by radical groups in Bangladesh to understand integrity and unity.

Pushpita Prasad, from the Coalition of Hindus in North America (CoHNA)—an advocacy and civil rights organization for Hindus in North America—raised concerns about the issues causing violence in the country and called up Sikhs for Justice (a  pro-Khalistan organization) that is banned in India but operates freely in the US and Canada.

The recent attacks on the Hindu community in Bangladesh have been another significant concern. Following the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August 2024, the country has witnessed a surge in violence targeting Hindus. There were over 2,000 incidents of violence against Hindus, including 69 temple attacks. Homes and businesses were looted, girls and women were raped, and Hindu places were set on fire. This incident has resulted in several casualties and left many injured.

Initially, the protests started over the job quota system, which later turned violent, leading to her removal. These protests were sparked by the high court’s decision to reinstate a quota system for government jobs. This includes a reserve portion of various positions for specific groups, including children of freedom fighters. Students from various universities demanded reforms, advocating a merit-based system. The protests ultimately led to the criticism of the government.
