In a shocking incident, two explosions reportedly occurred outside two clubs in Chandigarh, including one owned by rapper Badshah. According to the reports, the blast took place at Chandigarh’s upmarket sector 26 between 3:15 and 3:30 am on Tuesday morning, November 26, 2024.
The blasts occurred outside Seville Bar and Lounge, which is owned by singer and rapper Badshah and De Orra Club. In a CCTV footage of the second blast at De Orra, which is about 30 meters away from Seville, two men threw a crude bomb outside the club, which resulted in shattering the glass panes of the bar lounge.
However, the blasts were of low intensity, and no casualties have been caused. The bar suffered minor structural damage. Following the incident, the police reached the spot immediately and began their investigation. The bomb detection squad and team from Chandigarh Forensic Laboratory also arrived at the scene to collect samples and evidence.
Police Investigation into the Matter
In a preliminary investigation by the police, it has been revealed that two unidentified men on a motorcycle placed an explosive device near the entrance of the Seville club at 3:15 am.
“At 3:30 am, a call was received reporting a loud sound near SCO 23, Sector 26. The police control room (PCR) vehicle reached the spot, and a team inspected the site. It recovered jute rope pieces. A forensic team was called to the spot, and an investigation is underway,” Chandigarh Police said in a recent statement.
The police also said that the pieces of jute were used, which indicated the use of a crude bomb using sutli (jute rope) to create panic.
The police have also been investigating the extortion angle related to the matter. It has also been suspected that the partners of both the clubs earlier had a fight with each other. However, the recent reports also say that these blasts were meant to scare the owners. While the police also said that the motive behind this explosion was also to demand money.
“We rushed out after hearing a loud explosion. The glass panes were shattered. We immediately informed the police. There were eight workers inside the (De’Orra) restaurant when the blast took place. No one was injured,” a restaurant employee at De Orra said.
