    One of the hardest things that human being has to come up with is dealing with death. However, when a loved one passes away unexpectedly, then attaining closure becomes even more difficult for everyone. And what if the death doesn’t get any closure and it became an unsolved murder!

    Here are 10 unsolved murder cases that shocked the whole nation and haven’t gotten their murderers apprehended till date.

    Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur Unsolved Murder Case

    Dhanni Ram also known as Amar Singh Chamkila, was popular Punjabi Singer and songwriter. He often performed duets with his wife, Amarjot.

    On March 8, 1988, a gang of motocyclists ambushed and fatally shot Amar Sigh Chamkila, Amarjot Kaur and two members of their band while they were in Mehsampur, Punjab for a performance at a wedding party. Moreover, the motive for the murders remains unclear, but some theories suggest that Sikh militants were involved in the killings.

    Despite their deaths, Chamkila’s popularity remains high within Punjab and among Punjab diasporas and the case remains unsolved even after an investigation by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

    Chandrashekhar Prasad Murder Case

    Chandrashekhar Prasad, a student leader of the Communist Party in India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, was killed by sharpshooters allegedly linked to Mohammad Shahabuddin of the Rashtriya Janta Dal while supporting a strike in Siwan, Bihar on March 31, 1997.

    In 2012, a court found four people guilty of his murder. Despite his death, Prasad’s influence remains strong in inspiring social justice movements.

    Rajiv Dixit Unsolved Murder Case

    Rajiv Dixit was an Indian activist known for promoting Ayurveda and conspiracy theories. He died on November 30, 2010, after giving a lecture in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, apparently from a heart attack.

    Some of the followers suspects foul play and suggested that he might be poisoned because of his anti-corporate activism.

    However, an investigation by the Prime Minister’s Office in 2019 found no evidence to support this claim.

    Lal Bahadur Shastri Unsolved Case

    Lal Bahadur Shastri was India’s second Prime Minister. Shastri ji passed away on January 11, 1966, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, reportedly from a heart attack, shortly after signing an important agreement namely, Tashkent Agreement with Pakistan’s President Ayub Khan.

    Whereas, some people doubted the official explanation, suspecting a foul play because of the rumors about KGB’S alleged involvement in poisoning and the absence of a post-mortem examination.

    Sunanda Pushkar Unsolved Murder Case

    Sunanda Puskar was an Indian-born Canadian Businesswoman, known as the wife of Politician Shashi Tharoor, who was born on 27 June 1962 in a Kashmiri Pandit family. She was the daughter of Lt. Col Pushkar Nath Dass and Jaya Daas.

    Sunanda was found dead in her hotel room in New Delhi in 2014 under suspicious circumstances. Although, some early reports suggested suicide and later investigations showed injuries marks on her body, sparking theories about poisoning or drug overdose.

    Aarushi Talwar Unsolved Murder Case

    Aarushi Talwar and her family’s domestic worker, Hemraj Banjade were found dead at home in Noida, India on May 2008. The investigation into their deaths was controversial with the suspection on Aarushi’s parents.

    On Aarushi and Hemraj murder, the parents of Aaushi were later freed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Although, the parents of Aarushi were later convicted and acquitted by the Allahabad High Court.

    Rizwanur Rahman Unsolved Case

    Rizwanur Rahman, a computer graphics trainer died in suspicious circumstances on September 21, 2007, related to his marriage to Priyanka Todi. Rizwanur’s body was discovered on railway tracks in Kolkata.

    The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) determined that the victim was compelled to commit suicide by high-ranking police officers and the Todi family.

    Sheena Bora Unsolved Murder Case

    Sheena bora, a Mumbai metro one executive, disappeared in 2012, sparking a complicated case. Sheena’s mother, Indrani Mukerjea and others were accused of kidnapping her and killing her.

    Indrani Mukerjea, her husband Peter Mukerjea and her driver were arrested under the accusation of Sheena’s murder. Forensic evidence showed that Sheena died from strangulation (choking).

    Divya Bharti Unsolved Case

    Divya Bharti was a talented Indian actress who died at the age of 19 in 1993. It is said that Divya accidently fell from the balcony of her Mumbai Apartment. Some conspiracy theories surrounding her death arose with the most serious allegations being the involvement of her former husband Sajid Nadiadwala or the underworld mafia in her death.

    Shujaat Bukhari Unsolved Murder Case

    Shujaat Bukhari, a well- known journalist from Jammu and Kashmir was assassinated in Srinagar on June 14, 2018. The suspects behind the murder are reportedly linked to Lashkar-e- Taiba (LeT) were identified with one allegedly from Pakistan. This incident underscored the risk journalists face in the conflicted areas.
