Avoiding Trump’s Birthright Citizenship Deadline; Indian Expectant Mothers Seek Pre-Term Cesarean

    Read Later

As per reliable news agencies, many Indian couples, especially those in their eighth or ninth month of pregnancy, are now seeking to schedule cesarean section surgeries before February 20, say doctors.

The news comes as US President Donald Trump has recently signed an executive order to end birthright citizenship as part of his anti-immigration agenda. As such, Indian Expectant Mothers Seek Pre-term C-sections to beat Trump’s Birthright Citizenship Deadline. However, one may undergo pre-term c-section surgery only if one has certain medical conditions or complications.

As US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to end birthright citizenship as part of his anti-immigration agenda, many expectant Indian parents residing in the country are opting for preterm C-sections to beat the deadline of February 20.

According to news reports, gynecologists say they are being fielded with calls from many such couples. So, children born in the US until February 19 will be born American citizens. “A seven-month pregnant woman came with her husband to sign up for a preterm delivery. She isn’t due until sometime in March,” Dr. SD Rama, who operates a maternity clinic in the state, told the agency.

On January 20, Trump signed the order aimed at ending birthright citizenship for children born to undocumented immigrants or those in the US on temporary visas. The order seeks to redefine the 14th Amendment’s citizenship clause.

The order now, titled “Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship,” aims to exclude children born in the U.S. to undocumented parents or those on temporary visas from automatic citizenship.

Is it safe to get c-section surgery done before the due date………….???????

According to experts, even though the surgery is possible, a preterm birth poses a significant risk to the mother and child. For a healthy pregnancy with no complications, most doctors recommend waiting until around 39 weeks to schedule a C-section to ensure the baby’s lungs are fully developed.

When can you need a c-section delivery?

Doctors say you may have to undergo a cesarean section surgery if you have certain medical conditions or if complications occur during labor in a vaginal delivery. However, a planned C-section happens when any of the following conditions exist:

Cephalopelvic disproportion: It means that baby’s head or body is too large to pass safely through your pelvis, or your pelvis is too small to deliver an average-sized baby.

Previous C-section: Even though one may have a vaginal birth after a previous C-section, it may not be an option for everyone.

Expecting multiples: Twins can often be delivered vaginally; two or more babies might require a C-section.

Placenta previa: In the case of a placenta previa, doctor would avoid vaginal delivery as it gets attached too low in your uterus and blocks baby’s exit through cervix.

Health conditions: Various health conditions, like high blood pressure or any other cardiovascular complication, can worsen with labor during vaginal birth.

An unplanned C-section delivery might be necessary if any of the following conditions arise during your labour:

Labor doesn’t progress: Also known as prolonged labor, the condition happens when cervix dilates and stops and doesn’t become thin for the baby to move down the birth canal.

Compression of the umbilical cord: The umbilical cord is looped around baby’s neck or body or caught between baby’s head and mother’s pelvis.

Fetal distress: In a condition where the baby may develop problems that cause an irregular heart rate during labor, one may have to undergo emergency surgery
