    Israel Targets Gaza’s Sole Operating Kamal Adwan Hospital in Latest Military Strike

    The tensions between Israel and Gaza have escalated following the latest attack launched by Israeli forces. On Friday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) targeted Gaza’s only operating hospital, the Kamal Adwan Hospital. Sources indicate that the Israeli military forcibly evacuated the hospital. Death of dozens of people has also been reported.

    According to the Health Ministry of Gaza the Israeli troops targeted several parts of Kamal Adwan Hospital and set it on fire. The affected areas included the lab and surgery department. World Health Organization (WHO) in its statement on X stated that, this morning’s airstrike on Kamal Adwan Hospital has rendered Gaza’s last major health facility in the north non-operational. Initial reports confirm that several key departments were severely damaged and destroyed in the raid. 

    In addition, head of the nursing department of hospital, Eid Sabbah quoted that on Friday, around 7:00 Israeli troops gave the administration 15 minutes to evacuate patients and staff into its courtyard. He further added that soon after Israeli troops later entered the hospital and began evacuating the remaining patients.

    What Israeli Troops Said About Kamal Adwan Hospital?

    On Friday afternoon, the Israeli military said they will conduct am operation in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital, describing it as a “Hamas terrorist stronghold.” They also added that Israeli forces had “facilitated the secure evacuation of civilians, patients, and medical personnel” before launching the operation. However, they did not disclose where the patients have been evacuated to.

    The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has led to a significant loss of life. The recent reports of Gaza’s Health Ministry claimed that over 45,400 Palestinians have been killed in the war, with more than half of the casualties being women and children.

    The conflict began with Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel. The attack resulted in around 1,200 deaths and the kidnapping of 250 people. While some hostages have been released, approximately 100 remain captive in Gaza. It is believed that only about two-thirds of them are still alive.
