In the wake of chaos in the Middle East, the Israeli military once again launched a series of attacks against Hezbollah on Thursday, September 19th, 2024. The attack comes after two days of device explosions that left the Middle East fearing out of war.

The Israeli military targeted Lebanon, where Hezbollah’s strong political and militant group is placed. It targeted southern Lebanon and hit approximately 100 rocket launchers. Each rocket launcher consists of a multi-barreled weapon that fires unguided rockets throughout the region.

In a statement, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) accepted that the airstrikes struck the “additional terrorist infrastructure sites. These strikes consist of approximately 1000 Barrels that were ready to be used in the immediate future towards the Israeli military.”

The Israeli military carried out at least 52 airstrikes in southern Lebanon between 9 pm and 10 pm, according to local time, Lebanon’s state-run national agency reported.

According to the Health Ministry of the country, at least 37 people, including two children, were killed, and thousands more were injured across Lebanon.

    Hassan Nasrallah declares war

This Israeli attack took place when Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, was addressing his supporters and Lebanese people. However, the fear of an imminent conflict alarmed the region after Israeli fighter jets dropped a barrage of bombs over Beirut (Captial of Lebanon).

During his speech, Nasrallah said that these attacks marked a turning point in the escalation of hostilities. It should be construed as a declaration of war. He expressed his deep grief over the attacks, resulting in the lives of innocent people, and flooding the local hospitals with overflowing fatalities.

He also remarked that the Israeli military has pushed all the boundaries to the edge stating, “These attacks have crossed all limits. The enemy has exceeded all control, laws, and ethical boundaries.” He further argued that such brutalities could be construed as crimes or declarations of ‘war’.

    Recent Hezbollah Device Explosions

Additionally, on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 17 and 18, 2024, at least 32 people, including two children, were killed and thousands more were left injured. This happened after the communication devices, involving some of them used by Hezbollah armed groups. These devices exploded across the Lebanon region.

On Wednesday, the explosion of Walkie-Talkies claimed at least 20 lives and left 450 injured, as Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported. This explosion occurred in the large crowd that had gathered for the funeral of the previous day’s Pager blast. The Pager blast occurred on Tuesday and killed at least 12 civilians, and thousands more injured.

These recent attacks are representing a troubling chapter in the long running conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. However, as both sides are intending for confrontations, the world is closely watching their actions, hoping that the conflict would end someday, instead spreading to broader destructions.
