As Canada faces violent protests by the pro-Khalistan community at the Hindu Temple, the Brampton Triveni Mandir has recently decided to cancel its Life Certificate Event. Notably, the event was organized by the Indian Consulate. It was scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The Brampton Triveni Mandir called off the event due to safety concerns amid the threats of violent protests by the pro-Khalistanis.

It was a consular camp where Indian-origin Hindus and Sikhs could renew their essential life certificates. The Temple Administration released an official notice stating, “Please be advised that the Life Certificate Event scheduled at Brampton Triveni Mandir by the Indian Consulate on November 17, 2024, has been cancelled. This is due to the official intelligence from Peel Regional Police, stating that there is an extremely high and imminent threat level of violent protests.”

Meanwhile, the authorities also expressed their grief and apologized to the community members. “We apologized to all the community members who were depending on the event. We are deeply saddened that Canadians now feel unsafe coming to Hindu temples,” the statement further reads.

They also urged the Peel Regional Police to take stringent measures against the threats to target the Hindu community and ensure the safety of all the Canadian citizens, regardless of their faith.

“We call on Peel Police to address the threats being circulated against Brampton Triveni Mandir and provide security guarantees to the Canadian Hindu Community and the General Public,” the temple administration stated in the public notice.

The local security agencies have indicated that they were unable to guarantee the required safety measures for these community events.

In a statement on X, the Consulate mentioned, “In view of the security agencies conveying their inability to provide minimum security protection to the community camp organizers, the consulate has decided to cancel some of the scheduled consular camps.”

However, several netizens on social media are presenting varied reactions. They expressed their disappointment from Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and the Peel Regional Police to protect the Hindu Community. They also called these threats to Hindi temples wrong and unacceptable.

“It’s unacceptable that the authorities, Mayor Patrick Brown, and other leaders have failed to protect the Hindu community, forcing Brampton Triveni Mandir to cancel events on its own premises due to imminent threats of violence from Khalistani extremists,” a user noted.

“Threats to Hindu places of worship are unacceptable, and it is a failure of law and order in Brampton,” another user noted.

Another user also slammed the Canadian government for failing to take any necessary steps to provide protection to the Hindu community.

“Shame on the Canadian Government! Law and order have been thrown out of the window. Hate speeches and racial attacks of Hindus and Sikhs by the Khalistani terrorists are appalling. The failure of the Canadian government to protect Hindus is truly disturbing,” said another.
