US Elections: Kamala Harris and Donald Trump to Debate on Sept 10

    Read Later

Ahead of the 60th quadrennial presidential elections to be held in November 2024, Vice President Kamala Harris and the US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump are all set to clash against each other in a primetime debate on September 10.

This will be the first face-off between the rivals after the US president Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential election race, following the poor performance in debate against Donald Trump and endorsed Vice President Harris for the Democratic nomination.

As per the reports, this 90-minutes showdown is expected to take place in Philadelphia city, USA. The debate will be presided by the anchors from the ABC news network, including David Muir and Linsey Davis. Although the exact format and ground rules for the debate are still being finalized, this event will likely be held without a live audience.

Moreover, in his latest news conference, Trump proposed three debate sessions, scheduled to be held on September 4 and 25 with Fox news and NBC respectively.

Meanwhile Harris in one of his tweets on X said she was looking forward to the September 10 debate with ABC and had not commented on the other debates.

Notably, the September 10 debate was the second debate, earlier Trump and Biden settled on. The first debate for the US presidential elections was held on June 27, hosted by CNN.

However, after Biden’s disappointing performance in the debate, he announced his decision to withdraw from the elections as the presidential candidate and was replaced by Kamala Harris.

As per recent polls, it has been found that Vice President Harris has widened her lead in the elections since late July. She has been found leading against Trump with 42% to 37%, compared to July 22-23, during Biden’s re-election campaigning. The Ipsos reports confirmed her lead with 37% to 34% over Trump.

These reports claimed that Harris has taken over Trump and built over Biden’s.

Meanwhile, earlier on Thursday, while speaking about his face off against Harris for the first time, Trump said he had not changed his ways or approach to contest in the elections. He further also said that both Kamala Harris and Tim Walz (Kamala’s running mate) are weak candidates.

While pointing upon Biden’s withdrew, he expressed that in November, he would not be able to face off against Biden. He suggested him as the victim, who dislodge himself from getting atop the democratic ticket.
