A roadside bomb struck a vehicle carrying coal miners in restive southwest Pakistan on Friday, killing at least 11 people and wounding five others, officials said. The attack happened in Harnai, a district in Balochistan province, according to a government administrator Wali Kakar. Police, security forces, and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to a nearby hospital where a couple were in critical condition.

So far no group has claimed responsibility of the attack. The region is struggling with a decade-long insurgency by separatist groups. The IED blast must have been carried out with the help of a remote control, an official told AFP.
