The year 2025 QS Asia University Rankings proved an academic triumph for India. Indian universities have once again outshined their Chinese counterparts, for the second year in a row. A total of 163 Indian institutions were ranked best in Asia. These include 14 IITs, 7 NITs, and 141 State Universities, Deemed-to-be-Universities and AICTE-approved universities.

The Remarkable Feat of IIT Delhi
According to the ranking list released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), IIT Delhi secured the highest national rank among Indian Universities in Asia.
From last year’s 46th rank, this time IIT Delhi climbed to 44th rank in Asia. The succession in the IIT Delhi’s ranking highlightss the institution’s growth in key academic and institutional performance metrics.
Chandigarh University Ranked First in Indian Private Universities
Also, Chandigarh University has once again emerged as one of the top universities in Asia. The university stood at 120th rank among all Asian Universities and secured the first position among all Indian Private Universities in the QS Asia ranking list.
Other Universities That Made it to Top 100
Other Universities that secured a fine rank in Asia’s top universities are IIT Bombay, IIT madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, and the University of Delhi.
Institutions such as IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, Jawaharlal Nehru University, UPES and Vellore Institute of Technology secured places in the Top 150.

The reports noted that many Indian Universities have seen an increase in their ranking positions compared to the last year’s ranking. With the total of 163 Indian universities participating in QS rankings, 59 universities have upgraded their positions. 51 universities saw drop in their ranks, while the remaining were stable in their ranks or bands.
75% of the universities have climbed from their previous ranking in academic reputation, while 73% succeeded in employer rankings.
The outstanding performances by these universities and their ranking among top universities of the world showcase India’s progressive growth towards the educational economy.
