Bihar Cop Removed for Dancing on Tej Pratap Yadav’s ‘dance or get suspended’ Order

    Read Later

A police constable assigned as the personal security officer of Bihar MLA Tej Pratap Yadav has been removed from his post after a video of him dancing in uniform at the legislator’s instruction went viral on social media. The incident took place during Holi celebrations in a public setting, where the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader was seen engaging with his supporters.

The constable, identified as Deepak Kumar, was allegedly coerced into dancing at the event. The video of the episode quickly gained traction online, drawing sharp criticism from various quarters. Many viewed it as an inappropriate display of power dynamics between a politician and a security officer entrusted with maintaining law and order.

    Viral Video and Public Outrage

During the celebration, Tej Pratap Yadav, known for his unconventional public appearances, directed the police officer to dance to a song. In the video, Yadav can be heard saying, “Ay sipahi, ek gaana bajayenge uspe tumko thumka lagana hai” (I will play a song, and you have to shake a leg). He further warned that if the constable did not comply, he could face suspension. To ease the situation, the former Bihar minister added, “Bura na mano, Holi hai” (Don’t mind, it’s Holi).

Under apparent pressure, Constable Deepak Kumar momentarily danced in front of the gathered crowd of party workers and supporters. However, the incident was recorded and circulated widely on social media, leading to a significant backlash. The video was condemned by many who argued that forcing a uniformed officer to dance in public was a breach of protocol and an undue misuse of political influence.

    Police Department’s Response

Following the controversy, the Patna Police took swift action against the constable. A press release from the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna, confirmed that Deepak Kumar had been removed from his role as Tej Pratap Yadav’s bodyguard. He has since been reassigned to the police line, and another constable has been deputed in his place.

Officials justified the decision by citing the need to maintain the discipline and dignity of the police force. While no action has been announced against Tej Pratap Yadav for his directive, the move to reassign the constable was seen as an attempt to curb any future instances where police personnel might be subjected to similar situations.

    Political Reactions and Public Opinion

The incident has triggered a wave of reactions from political figures and the general public. Critics of the RJD have condemned Tej Pratap Yadav’s behavior, calling it an example of political arrogance and disregard for official protocol. Opposition leaders have demanded stricter action against politicians who misuse their influence over government personnel.

Meanwhile, supporters of Yadav have defended his actions, arguing that the event took place in a festive atmosphere and should not be taken too seriously. Some have pointed out that the MLA did not suspend the officer but was merely engaging in lighthearted revelry during the Holi festivities.

The removal of Constable Deepak Kumar has reignited discussions on the professional boundaries that should exist between political figures and security personnel. While Holi is traditionally a festival of joy and camaraderie, the incident has highlighted concerns over the dignity of uniformed officers and the extent of political influence over law enforcement personnel.

As the video continues to be circulated online, the debate surrounding the conduct of elected representatives and their treatment of government employees remains a topic of discussion across Bihar and beyond.
