    Bihar Lawyer Files Case Against Sonia Gandhi Over ‘Poor Thing’ Comment on President

    A Bihar lawyer has recently filed a case against the Congress leader Sonia Gandhi over her recent remarks about the President. The lawyer from Bihar’s Muzzafarnagar district has filed a petition in the court against Congress leader Sonia Gandhi that also includes her Children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi He has raised the petition condemning her ‘ poor thing’ remark on the President of India, Draupadi Murmu.

    Bihar Lawyer’s Complaint Against Sonia Gandhi

    Sudhir Ojha, the lawyer who has lodged the petition, in his complaint accused Sonia Gandhi of disrespecting the country’s highest constitutional authority. He told reporters that “Sonia Gandhi has insulted President Murmu by making the ‘poor thing’ remark. It’s a disrespect to the highest constitutional authority in the country. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are co-accused in it. A case should be registered against them under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita”. This case against Sonia Gandhi will be taken up for hearing on February 10th.

    Sonia Gandhi’s Comments On the President

    The first budget session of this year happened on January 31st in the Parliament. President Draupadi Murmu addressed the gathering at the Parliament at that time and gave an hour-long speech. The reporters outside the Parliament questioned Sonia Gandhi about the President’s hour-long speech. To which she replied, “The President was getting very tired by the end… she could hardly speak, poor thing.” This comment led to the petition against her by the lawyer from Bihar. Rahul Gandhi has also stated that the president’s speech was boring and repetitive. Priyanka Gandhi also backed the comments of her mother and brother.

    Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Response

    The Rashtrapati Bhavan has also issued a statement criticizing Sonia Gandhi’s comments as ‘unacceptable’ without mentioning anybody’s name. It also clarified that the President was not tired. The statement released from the Parliament read as follows: “While reacting to the media on the Hon’ble President’s address to the Parliament, some prominent leaders of the Congress party have made comments that hurt the dignity of the high office, and therefore are unacceptable,”

    Key Highlights Of Draupadi Murmu’s Speech

    President Draupadi Murmu while speaking at the Parliament on the budget session highlighted certain key achievements made by the government last year. She stated that with tremendous efforts of the government, India will become the third biggest economy in the world. This is the third term of the current government, and the administrations are functioning at thrice the speed compared to the previous administration, said Draupadi.

    She highlighted that a decision has been taken to expand the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna Scheme to grant new homes to at least 3 crore families. also said that the government is planning to give appropriate rates to the farm produce to increase the income of the farmers.

    She also said that the government is working to connect Kashmir to Kanyakumari as the rail project connecting the concerned regions is complete now. Additionally, India’s first rail cable-stayed bridge, the Anji khad Bridge has also been completed, as stated by her. She further said that the government is also working on a mission to connect every highway and expressway in the country.
