Pradeep Ranganathan’s latest comedy entertainer, Dragon, continues to dominate the box office with an impressive run, collecting ₹92 crores in just 18 days. Co-starring Kayadu Lohar, this Tamil-Telugu bilingual has managed to hold its ground despite the release of new films, proving its strong appeal among audiences.

According to early estimates from the Sacnilk website, Dragon earned ₹1.15 crore on its 18th day, adding to its already remarkable total. The film had accumulated ₹90.85 crores in its first 17 days, thanks to its positive word-of-mouth and strong weekend performance. The consistent earnings indicate that Dragon remains a preferred choice for moviegoers even as it enters its third week.

A Solid Opening and Sustained Growth

The film opened on a strong note, collecting ₹6.5 crore on its first Friday. Over the weekend, it witnessed a significant jump in earnings, reaching ₹12.75 crore on Sunday. By the end of its first week, Dragon had raked in a solid ₹50.3 crore.

The momentum continued in the second week, with the film bringing in ₹31.9 crore, showing resilience despite the usual weekday drops. Such sustained earnings indicate that Dragon has struck a chord with audiences, especially in urban centers where it continues to perform well.

    Third-Week Box Office Trends.

Even in its third week, Dragon has managed to maintain a respectable presence at the box office. On its third Friday, the film earned ₹2.05 crore, followed by ₹3.65 crore on Saturday and ₹2.95 crore on Sunday. On its third Monday (Day 18), the movie held steady with ₹1.15 crore in earnings.

On March 10, Dragon recorded a 16.73% occupancy rate in Tamil markets. The morning shows started with a 13.59% turnout, which increased to 17.54% in the afternoon before slightly dropping to 15.82% in the evening. The film’s continued appeal suggests that it is still drawing in audiences, particularly in metropolitan areas where interest remains high.

Can Dragon Cross the ₹100 Crore Mark?

With ₹92 crores already collected, Dragon is inching closer to the coveted ₹100 crore milestone. Given its steady earnings, the film could surpass this mark within the next few days. If it continues to maintain its current pace, Dragon is likely to achieve this feat soon, further cementing its status as a commercial success.

The movie has also received highly positive reviews from audiences, boasting an impressive 4-star rating out of 5. Critics have praised its humor, engaging storyline, and Pradeep Ranganathan’s performance as the lead character, Raghavan, also known as Dragon.

    Audience Reception and Critical Acclaim

One of the key reasons behind Dragon’s success is its ability to resonate with the audience through humor, nostalgia, and emotional depth. The film cleverly incorporates pop culture references, with nods to Premam, Simbu, and other iconic films and actors. The inclusion of well-known personalities like VJ Siddhu and Harshath Khan adds to its entertainment value, making it a hit among the youth.

Additionally, the dialogues in Dragon have received special appreciation for their emotional weight and relatability. Lines like “Oru thappu panitu easy ah kadantharlaam nu nenaikurom, but adhu thoratite iruku la” reflect the depth and care put into the script. The casting has also been praised, with Pradeep Ranganathan’s portrayal of Raghavan making audiences empathize with his character despite his repeated mistakes.

With its blend of humor, drama, and strong performances, Dragon has managed to captivate audiences and sustain its momentum at the box office. As it inches closer to the ₹100 crore mark, the film stands as a testament to Pradeep Ranganathan’s growing popularity and the power of engaging storytelling in contemporary Tamil cinema.
