    In a significant development to foster equality and empower women in society, the Goa administration has introduced new amendments to the MAMATA scheme. The scheme provides financial incentives to women who give birth to a girl child.     According to recent updates, under the MAMATA scheme, the Goa government will provide financial support of INR 25,000 to mothers giving birth to a girl child. Women regardless of their social or economic status can avail this one-time incentive benefit.

    Eligibility and Other Criteria

    • The scheme is applicable to all mothers who deliver live baby girls.
    • Mothers can avail the benefit for maximum two deliveries (girl child) at registered medical institutions
    • The mother must be a resident of Goa for at least three years or married to a resident of Goa.
    • Eligible mothers need to apply to the Child Development Project Officer, through mukhya sevikhas and anganwadis, within 45 days of the birth of the baby.
    • The Birth report/Birth certificate of the baby is also required in the process.
    • The incentive will be directly credited to their bank account.

    Benefits

    Under this scheme, the mother will get INR 25,000 (one-time). The amount will be provided in 5 installments of 5000. Each installment will be paid at different stages, as long as the necessary documents are submitted.

    • The first installment of 5000 will be given to mother post-delivery, (application must be submitted within 45-days of delivery).
    • Second installment of 5000 will be provided once the child completes the basic immunization, like BCG, Polio, DPT, Hepatitis B1, B2, B3, Vitamin A, DPT Booster, and Polio Booster. (Must apply within 45 days)
    • The third payment of 5000 will be given when the child will complete Secondary Education (S.S.C.E.). (Must apply within 45 days)
    • The fourth installment of 5000 will be given after the child will complete Higher Education (H.S.S.C.E.). (Must apply within 45 days)
    • The final payment of 5000 will be credited after the completion of Degree education. (Must apply within 45 days.
