The meeting comes with the backdrop of the recent terrorist attack at Baramulla Butapathri in Gulmarg. The shocking part of this army vehicle attack is that it is being targeted at the region, which is largely considered a terrorism-free zone.

During the attack, two soldiers and two porters were killed, and three others were left injured. This was reportedly the second attack that occurred in the Union Territory within the last 72 hours. Three days earlier, six construction workers and a doctor were killed after terrorists targeted a housing camp construction worker building a tunnel in Ganderbal district.

Omar Abdullah, the newly elected CM condemned the attack. He called it a “dastardly and cowardly attack on non-local laborers. They were working on a key infrastructure project. I strongly condemn this attack on unarmed innocent people and send my condolences to their loved ones,” he said.
