    Blast Reported Outside Gurdaspur Police Station, 8th Incident in 28 days

    The people of Punjab are engulfed in a wave of panic amid the recent incidents of grenade attacks in the cities. One more grenade attack is reported in the Gurdaspur city, that too in the span of 48 hours of the prior attack. The blast has created a sense of fear among the locals as this was the third time the blast has occurred. 

    Details of the Gurdaspur Blast

    According to the reports, the suspected incident took place at Wadala Banger village in Gurdaspur around 9 pm. Following the explosion noise, the locals gathered outside the Chonki. Visuals show police sirens echoing through the area and people coming out of their houses, grappling with fear and panic.

    The attack follows just one day after the pro-Khalistan group Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) launched an assault on the Kalanaur police post. Forensic teams are currently investigating the site, while senior officials are closely overseeing the situation.

    However, SSP Gurdaspur, Harish Kumar Daima, clarified that no concrete evidence of an explosive blast has been found at the Wadala Bangar post. Adding to his statement, he said that according to him, a broken glass pane and a brick were discovered at the scene, but there were no signs of an explosion caused by explosives.

    Explosion at Kalanaur, Gurdaspur

    Notedly, a same explosion incident was reported at Bhikhiariwal police post. This comes under the jurisdiction of the Kalanaur police station. Khalistan Zindabad Force, with Jaswinder Singh Manu Agwan claimed to be behind this explosion. He also issued a warning of more such incidents to come.

    A Timeline of Recent Explosions

    First explosion was reported on November 24. Explosives, including RDX, were planted outside the Ajnala police station, but they failed to detonate. The attack was claimed by Happy Passia. Two suspects were apprehended later, leading to the discovery of hand grenades. The second explosion occurred on

    November 27, in which a grenade was exploded at a decommissioned police post in Gurbaksh Nagar.

    Third explosion was reported on December 2, at the Kathgarh police station in SBS Nagar, resulting in the arrest of three terrorists and the recovery of firearms.

    December 4, fourth explosion occurred at Majitha police station, initially attributed to a tire burst by local authorities. However, former MLA Bikram Majithia shared images and described the incident as a terrorist attack.

    December 13, fifth incident. Happy Passia and his associates claimed responsibility for hurling a grenade at the Aliwal Batala police station during the night.

    On December 16, the Islamabad police station was struck by a grenade. While local police initially downplayed the explosion, Punjab’s Director General of Police later confirmed it as an act of terrorism.

    The latest blast explosion took place on December 19. Attackers targeted the abandoned Bakshi Wala police post in Gurdaspur, throwing a grenade at a seized vehicle parked nearby.
