A controversy has erupted over an episode of the YouTube show “India’s Got Latent,” following offensive comments made by the judges, Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija. This led to a complaint filed with the Maharashtra Cyber Department. Social media platforms have seen high stakes as discussions surrounding the episode gained momentum.
A complaint was also filed against Allahbadia’s remarks in Cyber Cell, and the show’s creator, Comedian Samay Raina, was summoned by the National Commission for Women and others.
The Legal Action
The hearing for the National Commission for Women is scheduled for February 17, among the summoned are Samay Raina, and the show producers Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra with the episode judges Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, Ashish Chanchlani.
The Assam police have started investigating the filed FIR and have traveled to Mumbai, where they reached Allahbadia’s house to issue a summons. The controversy has drawn the attention of the Assam government, as the Chief Minister of Assam posted on platform X that an FIR was filed against them “for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussions” on the show.
What is the controversy all about?
The YouTube show features a rotating panel of judges, including Samay Raina. Contestants are evaluated on their self-awareness of the points they earn, and those who accurately understand their talent and points receive a share of the ticket sales from India’s Got Latent.
The controversial episode featured Ranveer Allahbadia included a judging panel consisting of Aashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Mukhija, and creator Samay Raina. The controversial segment of the members-only episode on YouTube revealed a question posed by Allahbadia to a contestant, during the Truth or Drink segment of the show.
The Question read, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever.” This question led to a massive internet controversy where Allahabadia received tons of backlash and mass unfollowing. The Youtuber’s subscriber count on his channel went down severely, as a result.
A recent episode has sparked controversy regarding the judges, particularly after Apoorva Mukhija responded to a contestant who made comments about the female body. A clip of Apoorva is going viral and has received significant backlash due to the inappropriate language used by both her and the contestant.

Youtuber has also posted a video where he is apologizing saying, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry… My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it was not even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry.”
