Rocket Shells Found in Patiala Dumping Yard, Police and Army to Investigate

    Read Later

A routine day in Patiala took a startling turn when six to seven rocket shells were discovered in a dumping yard near a school on Rajpura Road. A passerby noticed the suspicious items and immediately alerted the authorities, prompting swift police action.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh confirmed the report, stating, “We got information from a passerby that six to seven rocket shells were found.”

Upon receiving the information, a bomb disposal team was dispatched to assess the situation. Preliminary checks did not reveal the presence of any explosive material, leading authorities to believe that the shells may have been discarded by a scrap dealer. “During a preliminary check, no explosive material was found in the shells… It seems that the shells were dumped by a scrap dealer,” the SSP added.

Despite this initial assessment, the police are treating the discovery with due seriousness. “We are not ruling anything out at this point in time,” SSP Singh emphasized, stating that a thorough probe is underway to explore all possible angles regarding the origin of the shells.

The military has also been called in to assist in the investigation. Army experts will analyze the rocket shells to determine their age and trace how they ended up in the dumping yard. The presence of military personnel underscores the potential security concerns surrounding the discovery. Authorities urged residents to remain calm as the investigation progresses.
