As per authentic reports, now Kohli is ‘Fastest to 14,000 ODI Runs (By Innings). Entering the game with a tally of 13,985 runs in 298 ODIs, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s milestone when he struck a boundary off Haris Rauf on the second ball of the 13th over. Kohli accomplished this feat in just 287 innings, significantly quicker than Tendulkar, who took 350 innings to reach the same benchmark. This achievement places Kohli alongside cricketing legends Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara as the only players to have crossed 14,000 runs in ODIs.
Kolhi also has most 50+ Scores in Champions Trophy. His dominance continues as he reached his half-century in the match, taking 62 balls to get there with a boundary off Naseem Shah in the 27th over. This was his sixth 50+ score in 15 Champions Trophy matches, tying him with Shikhar Dhawan, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid for the most such scores in the tournament’s history.
Further, Kohli overtook Ricky Ponting’s record of 27,483 runs to become the third-highest run-scorer in international cricket. Reaching the 81-run mark with a double off Haris Rauf in the 36th over, he took his tally to 27,503 runs across all formats, surpassing Ponting’s long-standing record.
Kohli sets a new record in fielding too
By having most Catches for India in ODIs, beyond his batting heroics; Kohli has also set a new record in fielding, becoming India’s most successful non-wicketkeeper in ODIs by taking his 158th catch, surpassing Mohammad Azharuddin’s tally of 156.
Adding to his long list of achievements, Kohli also secured his fifth Player of the Match award against Pakistan in ICC tournaments, a record against a single team in ICC competitions.
