In a significant development, Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal made a big announcement on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, aiming to serve Delhi’s women.
Kejriwal announced that every woman in Delhi will receive a monthly payment of INR 1000, which will increase to INR 2,100 after the elections. To avail of this service, women must register. Once they are registered, the amount will be directly transferred to their bank accounts, Kejriwal informed the media.
He made the surge from Rs 100) to Rs 2,100 after addressing the concerns and feedback from women.
“Some women said that Rs 1000 will not be enough due to inflation. Therefore, registration will start from Tomorrow for Rs 2100 per month. This revised amount aims for the betterment and meets the financial needs of the women in the city,” he added.
Kejriwal also explained that the election dates may be announced soon. This financial aid to the people will only be possible after the polls.
“Elections will be announced in 10-15 days, so it is not possible to transfer money to the account right now,” he said.
About the Scheme
Notably, the initiative was first introduced in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, with a budget allocation of Rs 2,000 crore. These include several initiatives taken to directly transfer money to the women, under Direct Benefit Transfers Scheme. This scheme ensures that subsidies and financial aid reach every woman into their bank accounts directly. These also include schemes such as maternity benefits, pensions, and other welfare programs.
This announcement is a part of Kejriwal’s efforts to provide financial security to the women in Delhi.
This move has been directed to ensure that financial aid reaches every woman, which can help them promote their economic empowerment and reduce empowerment and dependency.

“Today I have come to make two big announcements for the people of Delhi. Both the announcements are for women. I had promised that I would give Rs 1000 to every woman. This promise was passed in the cabinet meeting chaired by Atishi this morning. Now this scheme has been implemented in Delhi.”

Upcoming Elections in Delhi in 2025
Additionally, the upcoming Delhi Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Delhi in February 2025.
Major Parties and Candidates contesting the elections include the Aam Admi Party, Bhartiya Janta Party, and Indian National Congress. AAP is currently led by Atishi Malena and the first list of candidates includes Anil Jha and Sumesh Shokeen.
Bhartiya Janta Party is expected to release its candidate list soon, focusing on younger leaders. Indian National Congress is led by Devender Yadav.

Atishi Marlena, the Chief Minister of Delhi said that the honorium for women is Kejriwal’s guarantee and will be fulfilled.
“Kejriwal had promised to give a monthly honorarium of Rs 1000 to every woman in Delhi. Today the Delhi government fulfilled this promise. Now he has promised that if his government is formed again, every woman in Delhi will be given an honorarium of Rs 2100 every month. This is Kejriwal’s guarantee.
