    Controversy Sparks, Pak Cricketer Junaid Khan Questions Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Age

    Amid facing severe backlashes, the 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has penned down history, becoming the IPL’s youngest player. Rajasthan Royals previously signed him for INR 1.1 crore for IPL 2025. His selection in the IPL has sparked several age-related speculations, making fans suspect his real age. Recently former Pakistani cricketer Junaid Khan ‘s statement on Suryavanshi’s selection and his actual age has also been surfacing over the internet.

    Pak cricketer Junaid Khan looked completely dissatisfied while noting Suryavanshi’s recent performances against Sri Lanka in Sharjah in the Under-19 Asia Cup, claiming it exceptional for a player at such an age.

    Match Against Sri Lanka

    Notably, Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered an impressive knockout against Sri Lanka, scoring 67 runs off just 36 balls, involving five fours and five sixes, making him the top scorer of the match. His performance has fueled speculation on his actual age and ability.

    “Can a 13-year-old kid really hit such a long six?” mentioned Junaid while adding a clip of Suryavanshi’s six. 

    The impressive performance by Vaibhav Suryavanshi helped Team India to secure victory in the match, earning them a place in the U-19 Asia Cup finals.

    Match Against UAE

    Against the UAE, the 13-year-old opener scored an unbeaten 76 off 46 balls, including three fours and six sixes, helping India to secure a dominant 10-wicket victory.

    Match Against Bangladesh

    However, India lost against Bangladesh by 59 runs. Chasing the score of 199, India bowled out at 139 in 35.2 overs. On Bangladesh’s side, Iqbal Hossain Emon and AzizuL Hakim were the standout bowlers for Bangladesh, each taking three wickets from India.

    Previous Performances by Vaibhav Suryavanshi

    Born in a small village of Motipur in Bihar, Vaibhav made her first appearance at the age of 12 years at the Ranji Trophy 2023-2024, which also named him to win the title of youngest player of the match. He excelled in his performances in the U-16 and U-19 categories.

    Vaibhav also played in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and made nearly 400 runs in just 5 matches. His impressive feat was widely recognized by people. He also became the youngest player to score a century against Australia in the U-19 match that took place in Chennai.

    Signed by Rajasthan Royals

    Previously, he had been signed by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.10 crores on the final day of the IPL auction held in Jeddah. He has been signed to the team, after his remarkable talent, catching attention of team’s coach, Vikram Rathore. He invited Suryavanshi for the trials in Nagpur, where he hit a total of eight sixes and four fours during the session.

    Vaibhav’s base price was INR 30 lakhs. Delhi Capitals made the opening bid and entered the fray at INR 35 lakh. The bidding further escalated with Rajasthan Royals, who took him for INR 1.10 crore.
