Jagjit Dallewal Vows to Continue the Hunger Strike until Demands are Met

Amidst the farmers protests, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewals fast unto death strike entered its 64th day on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Khanuari Border, located between Punjab and Haryana.  Dallewal has been on hunger strike and protesting along with other farmers to put their demands on the central government, including for Minimum Support Price and other 13 key demands.

In the wake of these protests, Dallewal invited people to join the Maha panchayat, scheduled to be held on February 12, 2025, at Khanauri. He said their presence will provide him with the strength and motivation to continue the struggle.

Jagjit Dallewals Recent Address

His eight-minute message focused on four main points, i.e., emphasizing the need for MSP, the protection of Punjabs water resources, and the continuity of his fast until the government fulfills their demands.

Dallewal highlighted the nationwide demand for the Minimum Support Price as a legally binding provision. Further, reflecting on the farmers movement, he mentioned how other states felt Punjab had abandoned the protest midway. He reiterated his commitment to fight for the farmers rights and emphasized that the state needs MSP to protect its water resources and ensure sustainable agricultural practices.

MSP is not just a demand. It is essential to safeguard Punjabs water and future generations. Whatever I could do for this cause, I have done with Wahegurus guidance, Dallewal added while thanking the entire nation and state for their support during this moment.

Dallewals Hunger Strike Remains Steadfast

This is to be noted that Dallewal accepted the medical assistance after a meeting with government representatives. However, his hunger strike still continues and will persist until the government issues a directive or meets their demands.

Although I accepted medical assistance, my hunger strike continues and will persist until the government meets our demands, he stated.

Further, Jagjit Dallewal also admitted that his health might not allow him to attend the February 14 meeting. But urged all the people to gather for Maha Panchayat in larger numbers on February 12, 2025.

He also expressed his gratitude to the people for the effective progress of this movement. He also announced religious ceremonies, including Sri Akhand Sahibs Path, on January 30, 2025. The ceremony would be held in order to seek divine blessings for the success of their demands.

Jagjit Dallewal made an appeal for mass participation and requested statewide farmers, laborers, and citizens across the country to unite at the Khanuari border on February 12.

He believes collective energy could enable him to attend the February 14 meeting and strengthen their cause.
