They indicated that four had died and injured figures were still yet to be determined as of Saturday morning. The police surrounded the area in an attempt to curb further casualties and continue with rescue operations.
This accident comes a week after a similar accident took place near the Madhu Vihar police station where a storm led to the falling of a wall, killing one person and injuring two. These accidents introduced safety concerns in construction activities and the state of buildings during bad weather.
The Mustafabad building collapse again exposed the weakness of construction sites during the incidence of unexpected weather conditions. The government has launched an investigation into whether structural negligence or breach of construction rules were involved in the accident.
At the same time, as the rescue goes on, relatives of the victims stuck in the debris impatiently wait outside the site for something miraculous to happen. Locals also assisted rescuers by providing water, food, and removing debris.
Further details will emerge as the events unfold, and the authorities place figures on damage and cause of the collapse. The city council has assured stern action if they find any lapse in procedures followed at the time of construction.
