 Virat Kohli

The soul and heart of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Virat Kohli, has written his name in history books once again in the current IPL 2025 season. With a calm and effective innings, Kohli scored his fourth fifty of the season, leading RCB to an easy seven-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS). But the half-century was not another number — it was a record one.

Kohli Breaks Warner’s Record With 67th Fifty-Plus Score

Virat Kohli had made history again after he hit his fourth fifty of the IPL 2025. Kohli achieved the milestone in 43 balls and broke a giant record. RCB sensation now holds the highest number of fifty-plus scores in the IPL.

Kohli has become the world's first player to have 67 fifty-plus scores in the Indian Premier League (IPL), surpassing Australia's cricketer David Warner, who had the earlier record of 66. While Warner had 62 fifties and four centuries, Kohli now has 59 fifties and eight centuries in the IPL, leaving him well ahead. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma trail behind with 53 and 45 fifty-plus scores, respectively.

Steady Knock Leads RCB to Victory

During IPL 2025, Virat Kohli maintained his consistent batting performance by reaching his fourth fifty of the tournament. From the opening spot in RCB's pursuit of 158, Kohli put up a defensive batting display to reach his fifty from 43 balls and put his team on favorable ground against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Kohli, along with Padikkal, secured RCB's victory after losing Salt during the opening of the batting order. Both players achieved a hundred partnership, which provided RCB with an effortless chase against their opponents.

Kohli remained unbeaten on the score of 73 from 54 balls while carrying his bat throughout the innings. Devdutt Padikkal provided important batting support to Kohli throughout the innings by scoring 61 runs gracefully. RCB secured a fifth successful match on the road during this season, becoming undefeated in their home games so far. The vital success elevated the Rajat Patidar-led team to a third position on the standings table.

RCB Bowlers Shine Before Batters Seal the Deal

Earlier during the day, RCB bowlers established the tone for the game by keeping PBKS to a small total. Punjab started off on a good note, but Krunal Pandya reversed the game with two rapid blows.

“Krunal Pandya removed the openers, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, in quick succession.” PBKS never quite recovered from the double blow, struggling to build momentum in the middle overs.

Shashank Singh gave a late flourish with a 31-run cameo, while Marco Jansen contributed a handy 25, as Punjab crawled to 157/6. Though they tried hard, the total was not enough against a determined RCB side.

A Milestone Night for the King

With each inning, Kohli reiterates why he is considered among the greatest in IPL history. The record 67 fifty-plus scores—which have been obtained with tranquil, methodical innings — not only assert his dominance but also provide RCB a much-needed push in the tournament.

With the playoffs approaching, Kohli’s form could be the X-factor for RCB as they chase their elusive first IPL title.
