In a tragic episode in Jaipur, at least 11 people were burned to death while 41 individuals suffered burn injuries after a deadly truck collision outside a petrol pump. The deadly Jaipur gas tanker incident happened on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway. According to police reports, a CNG truck crashed into multiple vehicles, causing a huge fireball that turned the highway into a blazing inferno.
“The fire quickly spread to the fuel pump located in the Bhankrota area of the city,” the officials further added.
Details of Jaipur Gas Tanker Tragedy
Speaking to the media, Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said that the crash damaged the truck’s outlet nozzle, leading to gas leak and eventually spreading the fire. The sources noted that the explosion was so deadly engulfing vehicles within the radar of 300-m of radius.
The sudden gas leak caused a flash fire ensuing panic among people present on site. The chaos left no chance for those in nearby vehicles to escape. Reportedly several drivers were burned in the incident, with some in critical condition. Visuals of the incident show a massive blaze and a cloud of black smoke above it – which can be seen from several kilometers away.
According to locals, the explosion was heard up to 10 kilometers away. Reportedly, there were also repeated explosions as many of the fuel tanks burst. The police promptly rushed to the accident scene, evacuating injured people to Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Hospital in more than 25 ambulances.
CM Bhajanlal Sharma Visited the Site
Following the news break of the tragedy, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited the Sawai Man Singh Hospital. The CM ordered the officials to observe the situation and provide best medical assistance to the injured. CM Bhajanlal through his social media handle said, “I am deeply saddened to hear the sad news of casualties of citizens in the gas tanker fire incident on Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway.”
The CM also said to help the families of the deceased with a financial assistance of INR 5 lakh and INR 1 lakh to those injured.
Other Ministers Reacted
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended prayers for the lives lost in the incident and announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased. The injured will receive ₹50,000 in compensation.
President Droupadi Murmu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the Jaipur fire accident and extended her condolences to the victims’ families. “The news of many lives lost in the road accident in Jaipur is deeply painful. I pray to God for peace for the departed souls. My heartfelt condolences to their families, and I hope for the swift recovery of the injured,” she said.
Union Minister, Amit Shah also expressed his grief sorrow over the Jaipur gas tanker blast.
