In a tragic incident that occurred at Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district, six family members, including a pregnant woman and a toddler died and three others were severely injured after an oxygen cylinder blast inside their house.
Reportedly, the blast took place in the Ashapuri colony of Sikandrabad area of Bulandshahr. The blast destroyed the two-story house and caused tremors that could be heard a few meters away from the place.
The deceased were identified as Riyazuddin alias Raju (50), his wife (45), Salman (16), Tamanna (24), Hivja (3) and Aas Mohammed (26). Two of Riyazuddin’s sons identified as Shahrukh (26) and Siraj (30) were left critically injured. They are referred to Delhi Hospital.
Locals Reported
The locals said that the blast was so powerful it shook the houses located 500 meters away. When they arrived at the scene the house was shattered. The police and rescue team reached the spot soon and the bodies were pulled from the debris. The last rites of the deceased family members were performed on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities Commence Rescue Operation
According to the District Magistrate of Bulandshahr Chandra Prakash Singh, the incident took place on Monday evening in the house of a man named Riyazuddin, where 19 people including women and children were living. Eight residents were taken to the hospital while others are safe.
The family brought an oxygen cylinder and its accessories to assist Riyazuddin’s wife in post-hospital care. Recently, she returned home after treatment for an ailment.
Dhruv Kant Thakur, Additional Director of General Police in the Meerut zone in a recent statement said that the Police and fire security reached the spot immediately and began the rescue operations.
The National Disaster Response Force, medical team, and local administration were involved in the rescue operations.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to provide proper treatment to the injured.
He also added that the gas cutters were used to open the iron beams of the house’s roof. While an excavator was pressed to clear the debris.
Shlok Kumar, the Senior Superintendent of Police of Bulandshahr on Tuesday morning reported that the rescue operations had been completed. The family members said that no one was trapped under the debris.
