Though the visuals have only recently surfaced, preliminary investigations suggest that the incident occurred earlier. Upon receiving the footage, the police promptly launched a suo motu case and took swift action. All individuals identified in the video and involved in the assault have now been arrested.
Authorities are treating the case with the utmost seriousness. A police official stated, “This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and goes against the principles of care and rehabilitation. We have taken immediate action and are continuing to investigate the matter.”
In a further twist, photos linked to the same facility have emerged, revealing a culture of casual violence and disregard for norms. The photos show some of the individuals involved in the assault celebrating a birthday inside the facility. What’s particularly shocking is the fact that they are seen cutting a cake using a dagger instead of a knife, raising alarming questions about the availability and presence of weapons in such a setting.
These visuals have also prompted the authorities to invoke charges under the Arms Act. The presence of a dangerous weapon in a place meant for recovery and mental well-being has sparked concern among citizens, families of patients, and human rights activists.
The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter regulations and better monitoring of private rehabilitation centres across the country. With many such facilities operating under minimal oversight, questions about staff qualifications, patient safety, and the effectiveness of existing policies are being raised.
Social activists and concerned citizens are demanding accountability from the authorities and stricter licensing procedures for such centres. There have been calls for regular inspections, independent audits, and a dedicated helpline for patients and their families to report abuse or mistreatment.
As investigations continue, the focus now shifts to ensuring justice for the victim and preventing such heinous acts from recurring. The rehabilitation centre, once seen as a place for healing and recovery, has now become a symbol of violence and abuse. Authorities are under pressure to take long-term corrective measures and ensure that those entrusted with the care of vulnerable individuals uphold the highest standards of compassion and professionalism.
