Tom Hollandwill take forward the story of the masked superhero in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. The film will start production this year in summer.
Spider-Man is set to embark on a new journey, a brand new one to be specific as the studio teased the official title of next Spider-Man film. The new film will be called ‘Spider-Man: A Brand New Day’, and it will take forward the story from the previous film, Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Spider-Man is one of those comic book characters that has been portrayed by several actors over the years. But the most popular ones were played by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland.
At the recently held CinemaCon, the studio dropped major hints at what to expect. The film has director Destin Daniel Cretton who said that the movie will start production this year in the summers.
At the annual convention for movie theatre owners in Las Vegas where the announcement was made, Destin made a few reveals since Tom Holland couldn’t make it. He is currently busy filming for another movie – Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey. But he did send a video for the attendees.
Elaborating on the fourth film, Tom Holland was heard saying, “I am so sorry I can’t be with you. I am halfway around the world shooting a movie. I know we left you with a massive clip hanger at the end of ‘No Way Home,’ so ‘Spider Man: Brand New Day’ is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”
Sadie Sink is rumored to play iconic Marvel character alongside Tom Holland. He concluded by saying, “That’s all I’ve been allowed to say. And I’m well over the hump of giving away spoilers, so don’t be worried. I’m not going to do that today.”
In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker accidentally opens the multiverse only to not have a way to close it. It leads to him making the difficult decision of erasing his identity from the world.
On the new film, Daniel added, “I’m spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world. We’re all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”
Spider-Man 4 will release in theatres on July 31, 2026. Meanwhile, Tom Holland is currently filming Odyssey with Matt Damon, Zendaya and Anne Hathaway.
There is also an ongoing debate about who portrayed the best version of the web-slinging superhero among the above quoted three heroes. A recent Netflix data has put an end to that for now!
Among the three, Tobey played the role first. He worked with notable director Sam Raimi and made three films in the early 2000s. Tobey’s franchise was followed by Andrew’s The Amazing Spider-Man series, but it stopped at two films only.
Andrew’s version is allegedly the least popular one, but things changed. People’s affection for Andrew’s Spidey was renewed after the 2021 MCU movie No Way Home. And that leads us to Tom! Age-wise, Tom is the most accurate version of Pete Parker, and people also love him in the character. He is the official Peter Parker in the MCU and has three solo films which were financially successful.
It is a treat for the fans that all the Spider-Man films of Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland, and Andrew Garfield are available on the streaming platform Netflix. The data received from the streaming service has ended the years-long debate about who the most popular Spider-Man actor is. The OTT platform also has the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but we will keep it away from the tally.
As per a report, Netflix subscribers have over 100 million hours of all the Spider-Man movies over a period of six months. According to that, Andrew Garfield’s films were watched for 36.2 million hours, Tom Holland’s for 48.9 million hours, and Tobey Maguire’s films were watched for 59.5 million hours.
Judging from the data above, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man is the most popular Peter Parker actor among the fans. However, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home had a special place in the fans’ hearts as it brought together all three Spider-Men in one film. The 2021 film is reportedly the third highest-grossing MCU film, which earned $1.9 billion at the worldwide box office. Now, as per fresh reports, Tom Holland is reprising his role for a fourth film in his solo franchise.
Thomas Stanley Holland (born 1 June 1996) is an English actor. His accolades include a BAFTA Award, a Young Artist Award, an MTV Movie Award, and a Critics' Choice Movie Award. He featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list of 2019. Some publications have called him one of the most popular actors of his generation. Holland's films have grossed over $9.9 billion worldwide as of 2025, making him one of the highest-grossing film actors of all time.
Holland's career began at the age of nine, when he enrolled in a dancing class, where a choreographer noticed him and arranged for him to audition for a role in Billy Elliot the Musical at London's Victoria Palace Theatre. After two years of training, he secured a supporting part in 2008 and was upgraded to the title role that year, which he played until 2010. Holland made his film debut in the disaster drama The Impossible (2012) as a teenage tourist trapped in a tsunami, for which he received critical acclaim and a nomination for the Goya Award for Best New Actor. After this, Holland decided to pursue acting as a full-time career, appearing in How I Live Now (2013) and playing historical figures in the film In the Heart of the Sea (2015) and the miniseries Wolf Hall (2015).
Holland achieved international recognition playing Spider-Man in six Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) superhero films, beginning with Captain America: Civil War (2016). The following year, Holland received the BAFTA Rising Star Award and became the youngest actor to play a title role in an MCU film in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The sequels subtitled Far From Home (2019) and No Way Home (2021), each grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
